My pager has a blinking red lights sometimes and after the frequency if keyed up, the pager makes some beeps, after i push the button on my pager, that stuff stops. Can someone please help me out?
Thanks

I just upgraded from a II to a V, had a II for 2 1/2 years, so I could probably help answer your question, but the way you wrote it, I have no idea what you're asking. Can you phrase it another way?

Ok, do you know the tones (or where i can find them) for the pagers in Rowan County, NC. Also, if i want to change the frequency in my minitor 2, what do i do? Next, My pager sometimes will sound a series of beeps after dispatch talks, its no the activation though(i dont think). When i press the reset button, that stops and the blinking light stops.?

AS far as NC tones, I'm from PA, enough said.

As far as changing the frequency, if you mean set it to receive an alert from a different dept., or set the channels for the 1 and 2 spot to something different, you need to go to a place that programs pagers and radios, and they can do it, there's nothing you can do to change those settings yourself. You may or may not need writting authorization from your chief or 911 center to do so.

As far as a series of beeps after dispatch talks, but not being the activation alarm, I've never had that happen to me, so I'm not sure if it's a pager problem or not. One thing I will say is that the Ops channel for my full-time EMS department sets off what sound like morris code after transmissions finish on that channel, and only that channel, maybe there's something to dispatch in your area. Try asking the guys at the hall if they experience the same with there pagers.

I don't understand what you mean. The black button is the reset button.
-When you drop your minitor in the charger, press the black botton
-Then the battery is going dead, the red light will flash...The red light will only flash either during pager activation or if the battery is low.
-The light won't stop flashing until you press the black button after you place the minitor in the charger
-If that doesn't work, turn the minitor off then back on after you place it in the charger.
-If that doesn't work, replace the battery
The squelch is not the frequency. Your pager is fine and is doing what it's supposed to do.

You can't change the frequency in a Minitor II. Only a service shop can do that, and in the 7 years I worked in one, I never tried to change a frequency because it's such a pain.

The blinking red light and beeping mean either an activation or a low battery.

A Minitor II is about as ancient as a computer running Windows 95. Honestly, you are going to be hard pressed to find the parts much less someone to work on them. Even if your department cannot afford to go to the "fancy" Minitor V, upgrading to a IV would be better and more reliable.

so is a IV not as fancy and expensive as the 4s?

The IV (4) uses ni-cad batteries the same size as the AAA carbon. So in a pinch, you can drop regular batteries in until you can recharge the ni-cads. It is also software programmable for alerting and tones, so it's much easier to set up.

What software?

Nick,

Why are you messing with your pager on your own? The frequencies used are under a FCC license through your dispatch or FD. Therefore they should be programming your pager and giving you the meanings of the tones and it's proper usage. Your questions makes it sound like you're freelancing. TCSS

no sir, this is not my primary pager, this is an old one in which if i want to make it work, i have to do it myself...

Don't see a need in having more than one pager per FF but if a need exists your FD should do it for you? My VFD still has about ten Mintor IIs in use and buys newer style pagers for replacements rather then reprogramming used M-IIs.

Time to run my first published article again: CHARGED LINES by Pete Dawson "ONLY A VOLUNTEER ?" Remember the last time you heard someone say " They can't ask us do that. After all, this is only a volunteer fire department." Well it didn't cut it...
