we have had small problems with the pump levers being so short also. They are very hard to open. We have two 2.5" discharges on the operators side and they are the only hard ones because of the short throw.

That's exactly our issue. The the #2 was missing the set screw and it's travel is waaayyy too far. Monday she goes to the shop for the modifications.

Just a heads up you might want to check the 7/16 bolt that holds the arms into the valve. The first fire we were on the lever pulled really easy and we didnt get any water. The bolt had fell out. Most of ours were loose.

we have 1 in service and just bought another one and love them but we still prefer Pierce

Wouldn't take one if someone gave it to us, too many QA issues. Would not even consider spec'ing an Apparatus with an HME chassis. My opinion having "worked" on them.....JUNK!!!!!

An update from the modifications done to our 2004 HME Silverfox, it went to the shop for pump lever modifications. They turned the #1 valve 90 degrees and tweaked the #2 some I forgot exactly what was done to it. They work a lot better and pretty much the truck is doing us well. We'd still buy another one, we'll just take note to have the pump levers engineered correctly

HME IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2009 1871 FIRE TRUCKS BUILT ON CUMMINS' DIESEL ENGINE. THE VEHICLES MAY BE DESIGNED WITH A HARD WIRED, DASH-MOUNTED SWITCH THAT ENABLES THE VEHICLE OPERATOR TO INHIBIT AFTERTREATMENT DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER REGENERATION IN ENVIRONMENTS WHERE THE OPERATOR BELIEVES IT MAY BE UNSAFE FOR ELEVATED EXHAUST TEMPERATURES. DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THE LOGIC IN THE ECM SOFTWARE IN THESE ENGINES, THE SWITCH MAY NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY, LEADING THE OPERATOR TO BELIEVE THAT THE SWITCH IS IN "INHIBIT" MODE WHEN IT IS NOT.
