Hey guys. Just wondering, what was maybe one of the strangest or most rediculous calls uve ever been on??

for me, id have to say around a year ago, a little girl was home alone and she tried a ring on her finger. she couldnt get it off, so she called 9-1-1. i thought it was humorous myself.

i attached a recording of a call that we (tri comm) had mar 9, 2008 at 0817. i guess the student was sleeping hard (so they tell me) lol. i tell ya, thats either a good way to get out of skool o rhe just wanted a lot of attention.

Squad got called out for assistance to VFD for a reported transformer on fire/brush fire...
Upon arrival, the fire was out and the grass was chared all around the pole, plus two squirrels laying there dead and black.

Turned out the squirrels were making love on the transformer and shorted the wire, causing it to ignite.
That was the only explanation since the squirrels were doggy-style on top of one another with the one still "inserted" in the other.

We were called to a house that was under construction. A thief tried to gain access through the chemney and got stuck and we had to get him out. If only he had tried the doors, they were unlocked.

Our department is only supposed to handle EMS calls at night, not during the day, so it was out of protocol for us to be responding to a clogged catheter call in the middle of the day. Neither responders nor EMT-B's can do anything for a plugged-up pee tube, other than getting the poor sap into the bus and putting the hammer down on the motor. A week later, his tube was stopped up again, only this time it was at 5 AM--still nighttime, as far as our rules go, but I didn't ride on this one because I had to get ready for my day-job.

So about a week ago we got paged out at 12:30 in the morning for a 10-50 roll-over. Caller reported they saw tail light fly thru the air and land in a field. It was in an area were we have had roll-over. So when a few guys got to the station we rolled in are main engine with are jaws. When we got in the area we turned on all of our floor light and drove slow to look for the car. So we were rolling along and see something in the field never going to guess what it was. It was a header cart that farmers use to get their heads for the combines from field to field. So just to be cover are buts we check 2 miles in both directions. That was it get got all of us out of bed 2 cops, 2 fire trucks, and 1 paged ambulance and one that was on the way back from another call. All I got to say is I hope if I am in a 10-50 I hope the caller would stop and try to help me not just drive by.

I can think of two, both EMS calls.

First one, comes in as an adult male in cardiac arrest, possibly DOA. For some reason the senior man that night decided that his partner could handle the call with me since I am an EMT, so he stayed back. The two of us get to the call, and are met by a man on the front lawn telling us we can cancel the call. When I ask him who the patient is he says it is him. Then he tells the story, the real patient is apparently the family cat. The man I am talking with is a single father, he has two young daughters, the cat fell over unconscious and his youngest ran out of the house screams "he's dead, he's dead". The next door neighbor who knew she lived with her dad, called 9-1-1 to report the father dead, prior to running over to help. So I cancel the ambulance, but advise dispatch that we will be remaining available on scene. I come into the house and there is the cat, alive but to make a really bad pun catatonic. We stayed on scene long enough to help him ind the number of the emergency veterinary clinic two towns away and called them for him while he took the cat there.

Number two came in as an allergic reaction to a bee sting. 16 y/o female, on the football field at the local high school. We arrive pretty quickly and find the girl and her mother sitting calmly, however this is after mom has used the girl's epi-pen on her. The girl lived across the street, so a fellow cheerleader ran and got her mother and she came running with the medicine. Now I start asking about the bee sting, which occurred during cheer leading practice. The girl is very embarrassed to tell me that the bee flew up her (short) skirt and stung her right next to her.....you guessed it. She was in a great deal of pain. I was not about to try and remove the stinger prehospitally on this one, even with mom right there. EMS transported her. But the best part was when I returned to the station, met there by other members who had responded. One was my Chief's son, a junior member and classmate of the patient. When he found out what the call was he was actually visibly disappointed that he didn't get to see the injury.
