Just wondering if anyone else is seeing the usual rash of spring time field fires right now??? It seems like that's all we have been doing lately including one today with 30 MPH wind gusts. That one had 5 different departments on it.

None yet here, of course it has been below freezing till yesterday (except 2 days last week) for months. I am sure as it warms up, folks start cleaning the yards from the debris over the winter, and you know the only wayto dispose of the yard waste is to burn it, oh wiat the wind is blowing, oh well. Then the field fires will start in full force. Just as long as it is not like the rash I had in 2003. Went out in 1 week on 17 field fires ranging from 1/4 acre to 6 acres and only a foot or so from a barn.

One yesterday afternoon. The fire got in a CRP Field, nearly got into a pasture, but we got it out in time to save a lot of land. The fire went about 1/2 a mile. 2 grass rigs and a tanker. I guess what I really can say was that God had his hand upon us.

Ours have also been muddy messes. And people only burn when the wind is blowing crazy fierce. If it weren't for cranial rectumitis we wouldn't be needed. LOL

Still pretty wet here. We had a month of High 70's weather but March so far is wet and cold. Summers coming though.

A month in the high 70's? this early? I had no idea the cold left you that early!

We've had four mutual aids with grass fires either with us or other departments. Had a structure tonight that we lucked out on. The winds eased up enough for us. If they would've been like they have we would've chased it all night. With medicals, we've had 10 calls for in the past 3 days. Very unusual for our department. Generally have one a day. We're pretty small. Red Flag Warnings and farmers are still burning.
