Hello all....I was just sitting here thinking and reviewing some memo's....I was wondering if you have made any attempt to comply with the NFPA requirement for an escape system (Bail-out) for Firefighters. May I ask what you use and if it is your own or did the Department come up with something....We are still in limbo as to what is "required" at this point....No-one has given any clarification or guidance. Our Department has a rope bag and 50 feet of life rated line and 2 carabiners.......Thanks in advance for your comments.....Stay safe....Keep the Faith.....Paul

New York is the only state that has "requirement". The other things are recommendations. I personally carry and EXO.

Like Brooks, I don't know of any requirements out there specifically, and like many NFPA requirements it would have to be adopted. However, we did go through an extensive RIT, bailout and self survival course this past spring and last fall. In that was learning bailout techniques, head first ladder bailout, rope bailout, charged handline and so forth. Not sure if that would fall under the same thing and don't know if the NFPA is referring to the requirements of the systems themselves, not that all FF's should have one.
