California Firemen, Women, EMS, and whoever else can answer this, please do!

I just turned 14 about a week ago, and for months, I have been looking for an Ems explorer post in my area. The nearest one is about 40-50 miles away and it would be nearly impossible to travel there all the time. I live in ALameda County and I can't find a post. I FINALLY meet the age requirement, I've graduated middle school, and I've wanted to do this for months! I am so lost! I thought San Francisco would be my best bet, but it's not much help in my search.

I was wondering if any of you Cali people out there could help me find a post. I'm losing my mind!

thanks in advance!

Have you tried AMR in Alameda County?

yes. They have "Ems for kids" but it's only a kid's day that happened in 2007.

you need to actually take the time and do your own homework here...

if explorer posts are still connected with the Boy Scouts of America, don't you think that would be a good place to start?

how about contact any of the ambulance providers, such as AMR that was recommended?

personally, I think 14 is too young to be involved in some of the things that we have to deal with or encounter, buy I also realize that girls generally are a lot more mature than boys. aren't there liability issues involved here because of your age? I would think that 16 would be the minimum age for you to start getting involved. Are you sure about the 14 age requirement vs. 16? Check this out and confirm the age requirements.

regardless, you need to do your own research on this one because it is too geographically specific...

good luck,

CB

I can say that in MS, explorer programs are still attached to the Boy Scouts. Out in Cali though I'm not sure. 15 is the minimum age to be an explorer over here, but as Busy stated its gonna be more of a geography factor. Good luck as well!

I have done my homework...3 1/2 months of it. I've checked all the boy scouts in my county. I knew they were connected, and 14 is the minimum age here to be an explorer. 16 is for ride-alongs. I don't meant to sound bitchy...sorry.

I KNOW IT IS THROUGH BOYSCOUTS! I'VE LOOKED ALL OVER THE UNIVERSE FOR ALMOST 4 MONTHS WITH NOTHING!!!
