AMEN! Thank you for stating what I couldn't put into words. I'm in the military as well as the fire service, and if I spent all my time tearing apart every military movie and tv show out there, I'd never get ANYTHING else done!

My point exactly!
With that said, my all time favorite episode has to be when his dad had the monkey!
Absolutely hilarious.
Almost too funny for TV.

well said brother. personally i love the show. it's great. it is just that....a show, BUT, does it not portray a sense that is in all of us. how we deal with the things we see, not always positiveily. The day im not bothered by an M.V.A. with multiple fatalities involving people is the day i retire from the service.
just a lil tid bit to think about before everyone bashes the show unfairly.

He uses the FDNY logo, they have a say (to some degree) plus he uses guys from the FDNY for expertise and if you think this is ALL fictional then your head is in the sand. The FDNY and their culture probably cannot be replicated in any of our firehouses, they have 15,000 guys on the job.

You guys bash Boston alot in these forums, and much of the story line in Rescue Me is from post 9/11 survivor struggles. Not far off from the real deal.

i wish it focused more on firefighting than it being more like a soap opera with all the relstionship drama. I'd love it if it was really about the job not a hollywood version. other than that i live it even though sometimes i have to remind myself its just a tv show

Elizabeth,

The show is not souly meant for just firefighters. The plotline is meant to keep emergency services interested while drawing in an audiance who doesn't deal with the job on a daily basis as we do. (civilians) Rescue Me is just one show that isn't all the job. Look at Third Watch, the same stuff happens. (not all fire/ems related to the job)

i agree with chris lowe it does give firefighters a bad image and plus it shows to much drama and less firefighting

i think its a great show and it will be a show that may not be the real thing, but it does show some of ins and outs that some of us in here go thru in our daily lives. just remember they are actors, not everything has to be real for people to get the big i hope!!

I've never watched it... don't know when it's on, don't know what it's about... for all I know it could be another Backdraft.

I have watched it form the begining. I am not sure that the show reflects true to the letter as far as Fire DEpt Polotics and operations (FDNY). But I enjoy it. They could spend less time on all the sex and more on the fire and accident scenes. However to imply the "Tommy" character ahs some isusues with communication, addiction and self preservation those things could be eluded to as they are real problems for some people. Also the show is fiction.. Consider the Sopranos, I do not hear a lot of compalints about that show and it is not a documentary either. But otherwise I enjoy the show.

I like the show rescue me. It is funny and entertaining but it does not show how real fire departments run.

its situation drama (involving firefighters) like the label in turnout geer..not intended to be really about firefighters...but is.

I work in a combination department and we have some volunteers who are EMS only. My 1st thought was let them do only the EMS sfuff. I'm sure there are plenty of people who only want to do the fire stuff, but do the EMS because we have to. This wou...
