Description:

Under the immediate supervision of designated fire officers, an employee in this position receives training in all aspects of extinguishing fires, fire prevention and providing advanced emergency life support care.

The work is performed in accordance with specific instructions, established policies and procedures, and medical protocols, which must be adhered to.

The work, which is preformed on a rotating shift, require periods of strenuous physical effort and involves exposure to bio-medical hazards, heat, dirt and other unpleasant conditions. An employee is exposed to risk of serious injury or illness, requiring the use of protective clothing and equipment, and strict observance of safety precautions and procedures.

Position Details:

Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age, at time of appointment
Must be able to successfully complete physical agility test.
Must successfully pass medical physical examination.
Must successfully pass testing for illegal drugs/substances.

Training:
Must posses a high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess current South Carolina Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certification and National Registry cards. Also shall have and maintain current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support certifications. Applicants holding out of state Advanced EMT, or Nationally Registered Advanced EMT certifications, are eligible for consideration, but if employed, will be classified at a lower pay grade until SC certification is obtained.
Must posses, at the time of hire, a valid S. C. Drivers License.

Salary information:

$27,563 - 31,000
