Description:

This is an administrative position that develops, organizes, and effectively administers a comprehensive program involving training and course delivery. A high degree of creativity and flexibility is required to serve the administrative needs of statewide customer base.

50% Ensures the efficient and effective execution of regional training programs throughout the state of Louisiana and the center based programs in both Baton Rouge and Minden; develops and evaluates innovative services that meet fire service community needs; provides direction and leadership to FETI training staff in the development and evaluation of training programs and instructor evaluation and development; represents FETI with professional associations, government agencies, foundations, and fire service organizations at the national, regional and local level; ensures the timely preparation of institutional reports as required by internal and external entities.

20% Participates actively in the LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute resource management process: develops annual revenue and expenditure projections, operates within budge guidelines in assigned areas of responsibility, and seeks new sources for resources and revenue; reallocates resources based on budget priorities and institutional needs; provides leadership in the development of grant applications and Sale of Service Agreements; develops and maintains positive relationships with LSU administrative departments.

20% Provides leadership and vision in FETI's strategic planning process; collaborates with the FETI Director, coworkers, and key stakeholders within the state fire service community in the development of FETI's short and long-range goals.

10% Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of FETI.  
Bachelor's or equivalent degree from an accredited institution of higher education in fire science, human resource management, business administration, public administration, adult/vocational education, occupational health and safety or a related field; six years career fire service experience, with evidence of a sufficient base of knowledge related to general administration, program management, planning, and personnel management; strong understanding of the national fire service certification and education programs (IFSAC, ProBoard, FESHE and National Fire Academy); excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
 
Advanced degree in adult/vocational education or fire science; five years prior management/supervisory position within a state fire service or university based training organization serving both municipal and industrial firefighters.
