Cardiac Arrest Claims Massachusetts Firefighter

ATTLEBORO, Massachusetts -  A Massachusetts firefighter has died after being stricken while on duty Sunday.

NBC Boston reports that Attleboro firefighter Thomas Cannon collapsed while on duty Sunday at Attleboro’s Twin Village Fire Station.

Cannon, 63, was doing apparatus and equipment checks at the beginning of his shift when he went into cardiac arrest. Other firefighters were able to revive Cannon and transport him to a hospital where he later died.

Firefighter Cannon is survived by his wife and three sons. One of his sons is a firefighter in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Cannon joined the Attleboro Fire Department in 1987.

A wake is scheduled for Friday at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home in Attleboro. A private funeral will follow.
