EAST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a woman and her young grandson were killed in a three-alarm fire at a northern New Jersey high-rise apartment building that left two other people injured.

East Orange Spokesman Darryl Jeffries says 55-year-old Willie Springfield and 3-year-old Shaquan Brown (shah-KWON') died in Sunday night's blaze, which started around 9:30 p.m. on the seventh floor of the 10-story building on South Munn Avenue.

Jeffries says Springfield's body was found on the seventh floor. Firefighters rescued Brown, but he died a short time later at a hospital.

Details on the two injured people were not disclosed.

Jeffries says the fire appears to have been accidental, but the cause remains under investigation.
