TYRONE, N.Y.— Authorities say a woman has been killed in a fire at her home in the Finger Lakes region.

Fire officials tell local media outlets that the blaze was reported around 2 a.m. Wednesday at a house in the Yates County town of Tyrone, between Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake, 60 miles southeast of Rochester.

Officials say the two-story farm house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. A man in his 70s had already escaped the fire, but a woman in her mid-60s didn't make it out and died in the blaze.

Officials haven't released her name.

Firefighters fought the flames with water hauled to the scene in tankers because there was no water source nearby.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
