MONTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters responding to a two-alarm blaze at a Mountlake Terrace, Wash., apartment building managed to rescue a man from a third-floor balcony as flames raced through a neighboring apartment.
Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokesperson Leslie Hynes said the man was unhurt Monday and was able to climb down a fire ladder on his own. Firefighters also rescued a large dog from the Taluswood Apartments.
Investigators are blaming incense placed too close to combustibles for starting the fire.
No one was seriously hurt.
Hynes says the fire heavily damaged four apartments and at least eight others suffered water damage.
