PHILADELPHIA (MyFoxPhilly) - A fire shook up a busy part of center city Philadelphia just hours ago. 2 people including a firefighter were hurt.
Firefighters blocked off streets for hours as they battled a 2-alarm fire in two upstairs apartment at 17th and Sansom streets.
The fire shook up several city blocks forced 4 people from their homes and injured a firefighter and police officer. Firefighters faced several challenges while trying to knock the fire down.
Asst. Chief Michael Wall of the Philadelphia Fire Department says that these are very old buildings in the rear. They were probably built over 100 years ago and stuff so the entrance off of this street, off of Sansom Street did not go through. Companies had to regroup and make the attack from the rear.
