YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) — A motorist has died following a fiery early morning crash with a tractor-trailer on the New York Thruway in Yonkers.

The Journal News (http://lohud.us/HjoPjd ) said the northbound Thruway was closed for more than two hours on Friday morning.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the truck driver.

The accident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. near the I-87 ramp to the Cross County Parkway.

The car ended up wedged between the truck and a concrete divider that separates Central Park Avenue from I-87.

In October 1997, a Thruway overpass in Yonkers was destroyed when a tanker truck exploded beneath it during a collision on Central Avenue. The accident claimed a life and the busy highway was closed for 11 days.
