Michigan Firefighters Injured During House Fire

Two hospitalized as fire destroys a Grand Rapids home.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — The Grand Rapids Fire Department says two of its firefighters are recovering from injuries they sustained while battling a blaze that destroyed a house on the city's southwest side.

The department says 20-year-department veteran Joe Dubay was treated for dehydration and heat exhaustion, while Daniel Weatherwax cut his hand during the fire Thursday morning.

Temperatures were near 80 with high humidity at the time.

Mlive.com says (http://bit.ly/Ji0AiK ) both firefighters were treated at a hospital and released. It says Weatherwax will require follow-up care.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. It left a woman and her four children homeless.
