COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Leaders in Prince George's and Howard counties are playing with fire — literally.

IAFF: Fire Ops 101

Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker, and Ken Ulman, his counterpart in Howard County, are scheduled to participate Friday in a live fire simulation event organized by the International Association of Fire Firefighters.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute in College Park. Prince George's State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks is also scheduled to participate.

They'll get a chance to be a firefighter for a day, learning about emergency situations, getting fitted for proper firefighter gear and encountering actual scenarios like doing a search and rescue in a smoky room and putting out a live fire with a hose.
