BALTIMORE (AP) — Fire officials say seven residents have escaped a two-alarm house fire in southwest Baltimore.

Fire department spokesman Kevin Cartwright says the fire broke out at a home in the 4200 block of Connecticut Avenue early Sunday. Cartwright says a woman in the home was awakened by smoke alarms and managed to get six other relatives out of the home safely.

He says one firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
