Brooklyn Warehouse Fire Seriously Injures Firefighters, One Dead

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a firefighter who was injured while battling a warehouse fire in Brooklyn had died.

Officials say the fire broke out on the second floor of a building on Flushing Avenue in Bushwick at about 1 p.m. Monday.

The critically injured firefighter was taken to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second firefighter was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Four other firefighters received minor injuries.

Officials say 168 firefighters responded to the 3-alarm fire, which was declared under control just before 4 p.m. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
