WEST CHESTER, Pa.— Two elderly people whom authorities described as hoarders have died in a fire at their suburban Philadelphia home.
West Goshen police Lt. Gregory Stone tells The Philadelphia Inquirer that the home was in deplorable condition, making it difficult for firefighters to gain entry.
The Friday morning blaze was first discovered by neighbors who saw smoke coming from the roof. The male and female victims have not yet been publicly identified.
Stone says that township officers had visited the house several times in an effort to get the residents to clean it up. He also says both victims were disabled in some capacity.
Stone says there was no immediate indication what caused the fire.
